23/04/2009, played at Foxwood Guest House.
Foxwood B lost to Foxwood A 4-6.
Foxwood B sufferred their first defeat of the season to their A side. An inspired maximum from Jon Cockburn proved decisive for the A side. The game of the night was Kevin Roper 14-12 five set win over Steve Sadd, made all the more remarkable as Kevin was 5-0 down in the fifth game.

Firstline Factors lost to Briston B 2-8.
A comfortable win for Briston, good luck to them for next - at Christmas Firstline were second bottom, so we are well pleased to finish out of the relegation spots.

Match Report - CEYMS C v United Norwich Hospitals A

CEYMS C lost to United Norwich Hospitals A 4-6.
Martyn Gray made the difference in this match taking a maximum in straight games and combining with Rod Hamilton to take the doubles for the win. Keith Hunt took a brace for the Church team who will be in premier B next season a great shame, who I am sure will bounce straight backnext season into the top flight!

Best win of the season for Missionaries, their biggest win in their last game. A first maximum for Andy Watson, another for Richard Westgate and a brace for Mary Sawyer. On a very sad note Keith Champ, a former palyer, has passed away. Always a popular player he will be sadly missed. Andy Watson

NDTTL Presentation Night 1/5/09

Don't forget the presentations night.  Apart from the winners, runners up, teams of the month, there is Bob's bits live, and the Chairman's review of the season.  Put that together with good food, cheep beer, and lively company, it is a night to treasure.  And I must not forget Bob's quiz and we are even allowing Steven Howlett to draw the raffle again.  What entertainment!

CEYMS A lost to Foxwood B 4-6.
Foxwood B look certainties for the Premier A title this year with an excellent win over likely runners up CEYMS A Heroes for Foxwood were Jake Collins with a fine maximum ably suppoerted by Steve Sadd with a brace plus the doubles with Jake. Russell King performed well for CEYMS with a brace. The closest game of the night was Jake 11-9 in the fifth set win over Mats Ollson.

Hellesdon beat Taverham C 6-4.
An excellent maximum for Mel Humphries and a brace from Francis Webb was enough to see Hellesdon home. Roger Crossfield saw all five sets go against him as the season draws to a close. Wayne Lubbuck winning two for Taverham.

Unisands A lost to Foxwood B 2-8.
Foxwood B moved closer to the title taking maximum points over Unisands.Steve Sadd produced some amazing recovery shots against Sean Molloy to win 11-9 in the fifth to set up a maximum for himself. Sean Molloy turned the tables against No 1 Jake Collins to win 11-9 in the fifth coming from 2-0 down However he was un able to beat the very steady play of Paul Speakman. What a strange game table tennis is!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite a maximum from Philip Logsdon he lacked the support of Howlett & Henderson. Hopes of runners up spot for Park Lane hopes of runners up were well and truely extinguished. Kevin Roper played very well for both his wins with some very impressive counter hitting and flat kills.

Despite a Paul Barrett maximum for CEYMS B, Briston with a good overall team performance won 6-4 in this mid table clash.Game of the night appeared to be Paul Barrett five set victory 11-9 in fifth over Jon Hancock

Match Report - Unisands B v Briston B

08/04/2009, played at Ross Room, Miller Hall.
Unisands B drew with Briston B 5-5.
A very close match with never more than 2 games in it. Briston went 2-0 up with John Batchford beting Phil Clarke 14-12 in the fifth. Sands levelled at 2-2. Sands lost another close game with Peter Read losing to John Batchford 10-12 in the fifth. Sands moved into a 5-4 lead after a good win over John Paul in three legs, but the home side were unable to capitalise on this and lost the doubles with the match finishing in a draw.

Shelly Telly lost to Wensum G 3-7.
Three 5-setters and two 4-set matches meant this bottom of the table tussle was a hard fought affair. Shelly Telly picked up the point they needed (to keep clear of the bottom two) in spite of a maximum from young Daniel Marche. New Wensum player Finn Brocklesby made a promising start. Watch out for Jenkinson and Cunningham in the Division 4 end of season tournament!!

Match Report - CEYMS A v Park Lane A

09/04/2009, played at CEYMS.
CEYMS A beat Park Lane A 8-2.
In a very competative match CEYMS A put Park Lane to the sword. Philip Logsdon was not very well with quite a severe asthma attack, this reflected in his performance. Without his usual 3 Park Lane were exposed. They can count themselves slightly unlucky however losing 4 of the 5 games that went to five. Russell King & Matts Olsson gained maximums in their pursuit of runners up spot.

Typical Taverham B performance, trying very hard but getting nowhere. All home players looking forward to Premier B next season and some old drinking buddies!! Best game of the night, Bob Webster defeating John Hancock in the fifth coming back from 9-2 down.

Ex-Choristers B lost to Gothic D 4-6.
This was a hard fought match played in excellent spirit. Gothic ran out winners thanks to Steve Andrews not only beating Steve Smith but doing it in style with a 3-0 score.

Match Report - Norfolk County Council v Remploy A

02/04/2009, played at Norfolk County Council Sports and Social Club.
Norfolk County Council lost to Remploy A 4-6.
The key match watch was between Jonathan Care & Doug Ratcliffe. Jonathan worked very hard to combat Doug's stubborn defence and was 7-1 up in the final game , Jonathan either was exhausted or became tight and stopped hitting. Doug caught up but Jonathan got to match point but could not grasp his chance. Doug eventually won on a very nasty net thereby ruining the Council's chance of a draw.

A good nights TT with Telephones too strong for Rosebery Road. All good games and enjoyable company.

Match Report - Telephones A v Hellesdon

09/04/2009, played at Keswick Reading Room.
Telephones A lost to Hellesdon 2-8.
Maximums from Francis Webb and John Howlett and a brace from Roger Crossfield earned Hellesdon a deserved victory over a battling Telephones. An 8-2 score was not a true reflection on proceedings as Telephones had winning opportunites they could not take. All five setters went Hellesdon's way and skipper Crossfield fought back from 0-2 against Jeremy after losing the first game 1-11 to win in five hard sets. This defeat results in Telephones being consigned to the second relegation place.

CEYMS E beat Foxwood D 9-1.
Seven wins out of seven for CEYMS as they come to the end of the season on a high.A very enjoyable and sociable evening with Foxwood as always, however the 9-1 scoreline dosen't reflect some of the closeness of the matches especially Steve Johnson against Ian Layt and Martin Butcher against James Theiss with both games going to five.

Too sharp, too skillfull, and too young ! The youngsters of Wensum were just too good. Only consolation for Gothic were a hard fought win for Bob Stevenson over the very talanted Will Lawes and a rare victory by Steve Andrews over Lindsey Dare but unfortunately no points.

Hellesdon lost to Nuorder A 4-6.
A hard fought match with Nuorder A giving their all in accumulating points to avoid the drop. A good team effort and deserved win and three points for Nuorder, but Hellesdon and skipper Roger Crossfield could consider themselves unlucky as all four singles that went the distance were all won by Nuorder. Nuorder skipper Bob King said this made a 'welcome change'.

A terrific scrap between two sides at opposite ends of the table with Telephones who are fighting for every point to avoid the drop finding themselves 5-2 up at one stage. Briston clawed themselves back for the second time this season when 2-5 down to snatch a draw.

A friendly evening with some very good games. Unfortunately Scorpions only managed to won one of them though!

Panthers beat Firstline Factors 6-4.
An excellent maximum from Mel Rooney for Panthers proved to be the decisive 'factor' in the 6-4 win over Firstline Factors. Factors skipper Alan Walpole struggling with his form at the moment as Harold and Peter produce a brace of wins apiece.

Nuorder A lost to Foxwood C 2-8.
Four 5 set games all went the way of Foxwood as Nuorder A struggled all evening. Jason Evans the star of the night for Foxwood with an impressive maximum, including a doubles win with Mark Wilson. Maximum points for Foxwood to keep up their pressure for third spot whilst Nuorder A need some more points for safety.

Foxwood A drew with Park Lane A 5-5.
Philip Logsdon starred for Park Lane with an impressive maximum plus the doubles with Steven Howlett to ensure thew spoils were shared with Foxwood A. The most unlucky player was 'No Power' Henderson who had three very close encounters losing 12-10 in the fifth to Jon Cockburn & 11-9 in the fifth to Andy Hawes. A very enjoyable evening but what could have been for 'no power'.

Match Report - Hellesdon v Gothic C

01/04/2009, played at United Reform Church.
Hellesdon beat Gothic C 6-4.
Despite the fact that there was little to play for as Gothic were already relegated and Hellesdon were in mid table safety there were several good games during the evening. Alan Hough found himself down in games to both Roger Crossfield (0-2) and John Howlett (1-2)but he fought his way back to record deserved wins. However, Gothic had no answer to Mel Humphries who was in top form all evening for Hellesdon.

Enjoyable evening. Fair result for both teams.

Match Report - Nuorder B v Taverham C

31/03/2009, played at Pinebanks.
Nuorder B lost to Taverham C 3-7.
An excellent match with many close games with a strong Taverham C edging home 7-3. Nuorder could consider themselves unluckly not to force a draw with Andy Broughton so close to victory over Stuart Lines in the third, only to be pegged back and beaten in the fifth after five close games. All the Taverham players winning a brace of singles on the night with Mark Trett the pick of the Nuorder team.
