Nuorder A got their season off to a winning start against Telephones by the closest margin. Lawrence Caley taking the honours for Nuorder with a maximum that included a win in the deciding game against the resolute Mark Ring.

Firstline Factors lost to Hellesdon YCOB 4-6.
An excellent sporting match to start the season, highly competitive all evening with Hellesdon just edging home 6-4 with Firstline unlucky not to have shared the points. Francis Webb played exceptionally well for his maximum to be the difference between the two teams. Several games could have ended differently with John Howlett surviving 3 match points in the fourth against Peter Wright to win in five and Alan Walpole also surviving match points against Roger Crossfield to win deuce in the fifth. Harold Chapman was the pick of the home side with some excellent attacking play. With Hellesdon 3-1 up, then 4-3 down they had to dig deep and win the final 3 games with Webb & Howlett teaming up to take the doubles & three points. If all games are as close as this the season looks bright.
